Title: Door problem
Post by: sedandelivery on January 09, 2011, 11:58:49 AM
On My Sedan Delivery today I opened the passenger door and now it wont close all the way, the first latch grabs but the second latch does not so I can't close the door all the way. The door was always hard to second latch. Any ideas? I would appreciate any hints, maybe latch needs to be oiled?

What condition in the striker bolt in? There is a plastic bushing on the bolt & if it is really worn or missing then you could have problems like you are describing.

If this is the case, wrapping the bolt in electrical tape will make a suitable substitute until
the bushing can be replaced... or longer, if you prefer.  My truck has had electrical tape
used in that way for about five years without a problem.

Good tip Dwayne, I should have remembered that myself, considering the striker bolt on my car has been wrapped up with electrical tape for about five years as well.

Sometimes the best fixes are the cheap fixes.

Scott Drake offers a replacement striker bolt cheap, just contact your local mustang retailer (they more than likely have one in stock).
