can someone tell me if the stock clutch cable on a 78 will or will not work on a 302 with t5 bellhousing. also has anybody did a hydralic setup
I think Fred did a hydraulic setup i started thinking about it for my 2.3t but i went with the cable.
As for the cable the stock cable on a 78 will work with a 5.0 clutch fork fine but you have to do a Lil bit of modifying.
Here's what you do to make it work- Find a washer that the hole in the middle wont let the clutch cable ball pull through it. Then take a ball pin hammer and hit the washer till its bowl shaped then cut a slit in it just wide enough the cable can slide through it. After you do that you just weld the washer to the clutch fork over the hole where the cable ball would sit on the fork originally.
When i put my 2.3t in my bobcat i used a D9 2.3 bell and 5.0 fork works great has a real nice pedal feel not too stiff and not super soft like most hydraulic setups.
If needed i can prolly get a couple pics of my clutch fork that i did this too.
