Title: Power outlet hook-up
Post by: Yelby on January 02, 2011, 02:04:39 PM
When you open the ashtray there is a round metal plug in the dash.  Was this where a lighter would have been located?  If so, is there a powered connector back in behind the dash that can be pulled from the harness and connected to a lighter or a power outlet from a later vehicle to power a cell phone charger or GPS?

Different subject:  I never realized the wagons had frame rails from the back seats to the rear bumper.  This must have really strengthened the body.  Has anyone connected the front frame rails to the rear rails?

Yes the plug is where the lighter would go.There is a wire behind the plug,it is a blue with a red stripe. It is a 12volt source.I can't remember if it is a ignition or constant 12 volt.

should be constant 12 volt. and yes, lots of people (like me) fab up sub frame connectors to link up the front and rear rails, but if you don't have a V8 or hot turbo swap, you really don't need to.  :)
