Title: Wiring up igintion module????
Post by: jamestarantyler on January 02, 2011, 08:53:16 AM
OK I bought old pinto. It has no wiring I put a 2.3 motor in it an I have the distributor in it also the ignition box on the fender well along with the coil. My question is how do you wire it up? I know the green wire from the computer goes to the coil side  What about the red an White Wire on the 2 pin connector?  Does only the red wire needs 12v? or does white one too. The reason i ask Is I had it running but I had 12v hooked up too the red an white an the bottom melted out of it an stopped running

One of them is only hot while cranking, the other is hot with the key in run. I think red/white is hot in crank and red only is hot in run. One wire comes from the starter solenoid and the other from the ignition switch. If you gave both wires 12v continuously then that is probably why you melted the control module.
