Ok this is weird we heard an arcing sound from inside the distributor with the key in acc but the engine not running.I took off the wire from the coil to the dist and it started coming from inside the coil then.We tried switching the module it still did it. Is my car possessed or is it just a bad coil or what someone please help. The guy who was working on it tried looking it up and couldnt find anything relevant.his `contacts` said to check the plug wires,I informed him with the coil lead off the plugs and wires are out of the circuit. Guess hes no electrician lol. So I told him Im going to ask the Pinto people :)
Help Im not making this up someone must have an idea?
I would think a bad coil or ignition module if it is a duraspark motor.

Im thinking its the coil too we changed the ignition module same thing still. I never heard of anything like this.
Mine makes the same noise but the car runs fine. No Idea what's causing it. cant be that Ive gotten 4 bad coils in a row either. i think it might be something in the wiring in between the coil and Ignition perhaps.
It sounds like you have power going to the ignition system for some reason. It's possible the switch is messed up. You shouldn't have any power to the coil/module in accessory. You may want to start there. You may have a short in some system also. What kind of shape is the wiring in under the hood? The coating on the wiring gets brittle sometime and you could have a few wires crossed accidentaly causing this problem...just a place to start. You can pm me if you need a little more help.
I'm going to be doing alot of work to the blue bobcat this week, Ill let you knwo what i find. Toni, Id say start there as well. if you have replaced the coil and its still doing it, that would have to be in the wiring somewhere.

Did you hear it inside the distributor and then if you disconnect the coil wire hear it from inside the coil? Its sounding like replacing the coil could be a waste of time and money,I guess ill wait and see what you find. I looked the wiring over as far as around the ignition module and coil, but not real far back from there. Does anyone have a wiring diagram and a schematic for the ignition module?
I dont here it in the dist, just the coil. going to work on that tmr afternoon after work since Ill have the night off.

Im thinking the one connector that goes to the distributor must be for the pickup trigger.Im going to try disconeccting that and see if it makes it stop, one step at a time,Im going to figure it out.
best way to go. a step at a time. I did not get to work on the car today so heres to hoping I can tmr
