78 hatchback. i have a 302 h.o. what rear end fits in a pinto. i no a mustang 2 but any others? something more readily avaiable?

I have heard Maverick axles will fit, and I know one or two of the late model mustangs (67 and 68 I thinks) do, but either of those may require slight modification.

For a sure fire direct bolt in, the Mustang II is your solid bet, but as scarce as they are, it may take some time tracking one down.

Also if you can find a V6 pinto/bobcat they will have 8 in axles in them

The 64 and 65 Mustang had an axle the same width but I'm not entirely sure about where the pads are. I had an axle out of a 65 but never measured it since I didn't use it and I don't have it now to check.

A 1957 to '59 Ford 9" rear end will DROP right on to the springs. You have to drill new holes in the shock plates and weld up the old ones
