it's a '77 merc, and one of the ideas i've been considering is to graft on the sheet metal from the front of a '49-51 merc. I'd also like to french the taillights and antena, and channel the chassis. another idea would be to put bumpers on it from a '71-73 pinto. and airbag the suspension. either way I do it, I want to put a wood floor in the back (like an old truck or sedan delivery) stand up the spare and mount it in the back right corner, and put in a 16 or 22 gallon fuel cell. I hope to hear some good input about my ideas!

I like the classic merc sheetmetal idea, however I'm pretty sure "channeling" it may be difficult, as it's a unibody. (see also "body drop") You can get the Bobcat "in the weeds" with suspension mods pretty easily. I think it may be a bit challenging to get the "square" body style of the 'Cat to match up with the round style of the classic Merc. they make 'glass merc panels too so getting the parts will be easier.
