Title: Exposed Fan Solution
Post by: Fair 73 on October 23, 2010, 06:33:50 PM
Hello
I just thought I would show you what I did wasting my day today. My wife told me that if I do not somehow fix the dangerous exposed fan on the Pinto I will have to sell it or I can keep it only if I fix it. Well after 25 years I started the solution. I am not done yet but maybe tomarow. I did make progress today I started with a flat piece of sheet metal. Just so you guys know I am a Firefighter not a pro Fabricator this is as good as it gets for me. As you can see by the first pic when the cars running the fan could bite. I will have to trim it and mount it in the morning it is tight but I think it will fit.

Luke I would say your a good fabricator for a firefighter. I would have done away with that finger chopper and gone to electric.  Fred   :)

I did think about that but came to the conclusion there was not enough room for it. At the time I couldnt find anything to fit. Maybe I am wrong I also wonder if electric fan would cool it better?
Thanks

the answer is no in all reality a good mechanical fan will push/pull the most air

Looks pretty good. I have to come up with a fan shroud myself. I know I'll get caught in it eventually if I don't!
