Title: Fuel Guage
Post by: Fair 73 on October 22, 2010, 08:57:10 PM
 Hello
My fuel guage is not working can anyone tell me how to check it. Is it either the guage or sending unit or is there something else it could be?
Thanks

What does the gauge read? If below empty, I'd suspect a bad float. The sending unit is fairly easy to remove just make sure the fuel level is low so you don't get drenched with gas. Sometimes varnish will coat the rheostat and it will not function also. A solvent cleaning will help that. I can't remember the wiring exactly for the 73, but i think one terminal is power and the other is ground. Connect an ohmmeter and see if the values change as you move the float arm. JT
