Title: wagon hatch latch
Post by: flash041 on October 07, 2010, 03:45:37 PM
I went to open my wagon hatch yesterday and the key just spins. The small lever atached to the end of the lock cylinder either fell off or broke off. How can i get the hatch open with out mangling it up. I tried geltly prying and looseing the mounting bolts. Is there an easy way to do it with out destroying any thing?

Hey flash041:

Same thing happened to my CW several years ago but fortunately
it happened when I was opening the hatch and the small metal
part broke on the other end of the lock after it was opened.  The
only thing I can think of without tearing up your hatch is to go inside
your wagon and take the bolts out of the hatch at the top and then
lean the hatch outward.  Then you should be able to get to the
latch and undo it from the bracket.

Good luck!

there was enough room at the bottom of the hatch to unblot the two latch catch bolt from the inside.

I had to do that once (take the bolts out from the bottom) when something happened. Cant remember what it was but it was a patients tester LOL!!!

Hey flash041:

That's great, glad you were able to unlatch it without taking
the bolts out from the top.
