OK gang, here goes.
Am taking on the project this winter of making a former 1972 drag car into a street legal car.
There are two safety (inspection) issues, no working horn and no emergency brake, as neither were required for drag racing.
I am a bit confused as according to the schematic, there is no horn relay and the horn button is HOT, meaning it has 12 volts applied from a wire that goes to the headlight switch. Normally a horn button applies a ground contact to a horn relay that supplies the 12 volts to the horn so that the horn button does not see any voltage.
The next issue of the ebrake is going to be expensive at the least. The stock rear end with drum brakes and emergency brake was replaced with a Ford 9 inch with disk brakes and no emergency brake. In fact the emergency brake handle was replaced with the parachute handle.
For now I am working on the horn situation. Thanks for reading.

I have a set of Wilwood rear discs that have the parking brake drum assembly in the hat. If you have Wilwoods out back you may be able to get the hat/backing plate assembly to convert yours. Otherwise you can just get the complete kit & then sell yours to recoup some money. Either way I think it would be under 300 bucks to do it plus the handle & cable from the boneyard.
Does the horn button need to be in the steering wheel? If not, just install a button somewhere you can reach it and run a separate circuit to a horn, mounted where ever you can place it.
original horn switch sees amperage and + 12 volts. no relays , just cheap old cars. fuse on the line that is all.
how much is the floor cut up where the original handle should go. fred prob has a piece of floorpan you could buzz in and mount up an original style handle if that is required. otherwise how about an underdash e brake handle from say a early 70's dodge d5,6,700 series truck. super common at the truck parts places.. get a set of universal cables and route as necessary.
depending on regulations you may be able to get away with a pinion brake too. they are pretty common for the 9" and a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for the reply guys.
To PINTO5: I do have Wilwoods out back. I'll also have to determine if the 9 inch is a big bearing rear. I know it is workable. Just a matter of how to go about it. I will keep doing updates as I get to it.
To TURBOPINTO72 and OHSIX9: I'll use the horn button that is on the GRANT GT steering wheel and keep it as the ground. I'll mount a horn relay near the horn and operate it that way. I have already located a close to the horn 12 Volt source that is always on if the battery switch is on. The ground will come from the button. A 1 AMP fuse in the button circuit and a 20 AMP fuse in the horn 12 Volt circuit will finish it off. I'll probably have to install a louder horn because there is no way anyone will hear the stock low tone horn over the 3 inch exhaust with that 6-71 blower turning.
To OHSIX9: The center floor hump now has an old style C4 HURST MEGA shifter with the two finger pull up handle. That will be changed out for sure. Probably with a ratchet style shifter.
The hole for the e brake handle has not been cut up too much at all. And yes the floor area for the shifter and ebrake handle can be beefed up if necessary. Will not be using an under dash set up.
And yes, a pinion brake is another option. Again I will just have to decide on which way to go.
I really appreciate all the input.

If my finaces ever allow im going 6-71 with a 3hole butterfly injected hat! SIGH!!
