I am not sure if this is the right forum to post but I am puttting in a fuel cell in my Pinto and i need a 5/16 nutsert installation tool. I have 4 nutserts to do and the tool cost about $100. Anybody got one to loan? or know where I can buy one at a better price that works???

I have installed them with out the tool. Use a 5/16 bolt and a nut. Thread the nut up the bolt all the way, thread the nutsert onto the end of the bolt. Put the nutsert in the hole and run the nut down to compress the nutsert. you may need a washer between the nutsert and the nut to act as a bearing.
I tried that, perhaps i need to try it again???? maybe i was doing something incorrectly.
thanks
jim
A little more involved but should work better if you're having trouble:

Sounds like aircraft riv-nuts. I have a whole kit of those with 2 different pulling tool's. Fred
soo talk to me Fred. these are 5/16 bolts but I am willing to look.
PM sent.
These are used where you want a threaded nut on metal but there is no acces to back side. They swell like a rivet. Come in different thread sizes. They also have flush head were you countersink metal. Fred :)
That's them alright. When you install them they tighten up like a rivet but threaded. Are they for sale????
Is there a 5/16 in there??
Jim mine are 1/4" down to 6-32 thread, but should be able to purchase at aircraft store. I will check my catalog to see if they have larger. I use to do major airframe rebuild but on light aircraft. Fred
Jim I checked there only listing up to 10-32, but you can give them a call they may direct you right. 1-800-831-2949. Fred :)
Thanks Fred, I appreciate the effort. I will give them a call.
