Title: sorcerers apprentice, and losers : pintos in recent movies
Post by: poomwah on September 27, 2010, 11:32:27 AM
anyone else seen them
sorcers apprentice is a recent nicolas cage movie, they transform a car into a pinto, I was really excited until I saw what happened to it.

Losers is an action movie, they had a faded yellow pinto and some funny remarks about it

Haven't seen it, but it sounds like an interesting premise!

I saw both of the movies. I knew that there was a Pinto scene in the Losers , but was not expecting it in The Sorcers Apprentice! My wife truned to me and asked if I knew there was a Pinto in the movie...I had no Idea! The car was crushed , but at least neither movie had the car blowing up!

Not a new movie, but I just watched the 1976 classic "The Big Bus!" Many Pintos in the first five minutes, not too many after that, but probably the most Pintos on film in a short span. They don't make movies like that anymore. The paint job on the Big Bus looks like a giant Sport Wagon.

I had a customer today says he was watching a Dukes of Hazzard rerun and parked in the street was a Cruising Wagon! He thinks he has it taped .

I have the losers coming on netflix.  We watched Cujo the week before last.  It had been quite a few years since I have seen it.  I forgot about the Pinto.  I made some comments to how nice some of the interior parts were in the car and my wife gave me a weird look.

in some tv shows as well such as supernatural, season 4 and 5 there was a 79/80 runabout and in another episode in Season 5 there was a early 70's wagon

You know how much of an animal lover I am... still, I'll be yelping and cringing every time the Pinto gets slammed by an enraged Cujo! lol!

Never really thought about it before, Becky, but I'll bet that scene really presented you with some emotional conflict didn't it?  :o

As a matter of fact, it did. I hated like heck that Cujo got sick, then violent in the first place- THEN Stephen King made that beautiful yellow full-glass hatch Pinto become almost a co-conspirator with the rabid Cujo by breaking down at his owner's yard. At least the car kept mom and child safe... except for the heat and dehydration. Yep... haunting and disturbing to me. I guess Stephen King hated St. Bernards AND Ford Pintos.  :P

I haven't seen that movie since it was in the theaters in the early 1980's but I definitely remember that scene!  After all, I grew up with St. Bernards and Ford Pintos!

Yep... two of them.  Andy first, and then Max.  Due to their size and their inappropriateness for the climate here, and a naturally brief lifespan (8-10 years), we decided not to get anymore after they were gone.  That was in the late 70's and early 80's, same time we had the Pintos.  I used to haul Andy around with me in my orange '74!
