its about 200 miles away, needs a radiator, no carpet or dash pad, pretty much could use a new interior.
the guy said he would deliver it for about 100 dollars.
overpriced...jmo
does is have a V8 and new drive train in it? The hood scoop makes me wonder.... If so, then all of the V8 swap is done for you and you just have to tweak it a bit to get it going. Worth it in my own opinion
Without knowing engine or drivetrain details (apparently, V8 or not, it doesn't run), I would agree with RSM. WAY too much for a car with issues. It is pretty, though.
It's a V8 Pinto?....
its a 2.3 4 speed. which is what I want, I don't want a v8 pinto, I want to either go turbo coupe swap, or maybe just a 2.3 ranger motor with FI and a 5 speed.
They say it runs and shifts well, that the brakes are good. It has a leak in the radiator and the guy said not to trust it to drive this far. That either he could deliver it, or I should bring a radiator with me.
floor pans have surface rust but nothing major, the dash pad is cracked all to hell, and theres no carpet.
if this ones overpriced, any idea where I could look for one nearby? the only other ones I've found were 3000 and have been sitting for a long time, neither of which are drivable without work.

If the radiator is the ONLY mechanical problem, I'd offer him $1000 delivered. Otherwise, keep looking. Interior restoration can be pretty pricey!
Dwayne
Agreed, beside the exterior paint and work. Interior repairs will be very costly. Radiator is noted, but that probably means it is not running to check how good the engine is. It is a cheap repair for him to sell a running car. Transmission? Rear? Too many what if's. Suspension, exhaust, etc. Looks ridden hard and put away outside and left for dead. Always worth bringing back to life, but at what price for the car? I would guess $700-$1000 tops.
thank you guys for all of the advice. In light of the advice to stay away from that one, and the fact that the pickins are so slim, AND the fact that I need to get a vehicle soon (jeep died and we are down to one vehicle now)
I blew my pinto money today on another car, I found a really clean 2001 mustang 6cyl 5 speed, 92,400 miles, really great shape, and the guy only wanted 3800 for it. Around here thats a steal. Five miles down the road was a 99 with 127,000 miles, stained seats, and some cracks in the fiberglass trunk lid, and they wanted 6000 for that and will probably get it. super crazy how expensive used cars are around here. Anyway, I couldn't pass it up.
sorry guys, as much as I love pintos, I'm not going to be getting one.
Well thats a bummer your not getting a Pinto. There are a few here in Az that are priced reasonably good. They are in the $1000 area and from what I see in the pics look good. I actually went to California for the one I just bought. There is a little rust to deal with but overall it was an ok deal. The interior is in really good shape so it made it worth the trip.
Poomwah, never say never. You might just find one- THE one- when you're not looking... ;D

That's right... it has happend to lots of us!
Dwayne
It takes time , but you will know it when you see it. Also, do what you want, if you want to build a Pinto custom, then do it. I spent over $15,000 on mine so far. :rolleye:
its crazy seeing you guys say 1000 for a pinto is reasonably price. to me thats way to much for any pinto unless its got money put into it. i have 2 wagons and i got them both for $550. both run and drive. floors were rusted out but there derby cars, gonna patch it. but damn! it does zoop i cant come on here and get a 300-400 pinto thats complete and stock

Yeah, I sold my Mercury station wagon for $500 and bought my 74 runabout that same day because I stumbled across it. So Yeah you will probably find it when your not looking...... Sad but True

Purchasing a car to drive or restore is a totally different matter than buying one to smash up in a demolition derby. I wouldn't dream of spending more than a couple hundred bucks on one either if that was my intention.
Dwayne
I agree, and our estimates are based on not seeing the car. A V8 conversion was done, so if the engine runs good and the body is not rotten, then $1000 is not unreasonable. But the car does appear to need work regardless.
Sorry, just read it is not a V8 Pinto, but still more would need to be know for an accurate assesment. I do not discount it could be worth $1000
