STAY AWAY!!!  This is my old white wagon and is not worth what the scum is asking. I sold it to him with a promise that he was going to get it back on the road and keep it as a summer driver. If I had known that he was going to give it a back alley repair and detail job and then turn around and ask almost four times what I sold it to him for, he would have never gotten the car.
He failed to mention that the gas tank has a JB Weld patch job in a couple of places and the rear brakes need replacing BAD
If some of you can maybe ask him about the floors and the title (make sure it's in his name), that would help me out.

wrong link? I don't see it listed and can not find it. Just the early '72 Pintony has listed and the '79 some were poking fun at.

Yours was a '78 w/V6 and red interior... right?

Some people are total idiots. Like he actually thought you wouldn't have found out about it? What a moron. Sad thing is all you can do is warn people on here. It's a shame scum like that exist  :-\

The really scary part is that the photos make it look like a real steal at $1600!   :surprised:

This is why I am skeptical of buying anything I can't see first. If a picture can say a thousand words, in this case it can also HIDE a thousand words!

No kidding, that car looks worth the money.  What is wrong with the title, he has it listed as clear. (does he mean see through)and the flors, I will gladly ask the questions.

Ask and see if it's in HIS name and not mine. Unless he got a title printed the same day, he might be floating it because I was an idiot and did not have him sign it right in front of me.
As far as the floors go, I patched them with cheap sheet metal and screwed the panels down. I never sealed around them at all so chances are, they leak like a sive. The wood is original to the car and has been coated with  Back to Black or ?? to make it shiny. There's some nasty rust around the filler neck. I patched at least two holes (small ones) on the gas tank. The dash is cracked, seats are dry rotted/worn in the front and unless he replaced the AC, it's out of the car and not working. I know the fan motor was making a nasty noise when he got it. Also both front fenders have small dents on the top that pop in and out when you lean on them. Finally, the rear hatch seal is junk and leaks because it came out on my red wagon

Well, I've purchased six automobiles (three Lincolns, one Cadillac, one Chrysler convertible, and my Pinto) on eBay and I can't really say I've run into any major problems.  On the other hand, this case clearly indicates that you can't always trust everything you see.  Based on the photos, I would buy that Squire.

Years ago I had a Volvo 544 (looks like a 46 Ford) for sale. A guy called about it, but wasn't interested given the honest condition I presented.  Eventually I found a buyer.  Turns out this "buyer" re-listed it for sale before he even completed the transaction with me.  To that end he was still loading it on the dolly (that I insisted be part of the sale given the condition) when a perspective buyer was waiting at his place.

How do I know this? Because the same guy who turned down the purchase based on my presentation was the same guy waiting for the car to arrive.  My description basically presented a near basket case (5-6 car).  This "intermediate buyer" had the car advertised as a 2-3 car. Strange how that can happen simply by a 20 minute tow.

The perspective buyer was PO-ed because the guy said, "he could drive it home."  That would be the same car I insisted 20 minutes prior be towed away on a dolly. Needless to say the PO-ed guy contacted me to warn me of what was up.

Also of late I bought a '64 Sudebaker Daytona off Ebay.  I'm wise enough to know what to expect, but the end result was far worse than presented.  The ad said, "it goes down the road nicely."  OK, I wasn't exactly buying that, but:

1. The windshield was cracked (didn't show in the pictures - I know, I should have asked).

2. They were pouring gas into the carburetor to start it.

3. Once it fired it was obvious the whole exhaust was missing from the starter motor back.

4. The guy drives it out to my borrowed enclosed trailer, gets out and say, "there's no brakes."

5. I get it in the trailer (by the way reverse - the brakes in my case - on the Studebaker are where "low" normally is)

6. Anti freeze is gushing out of the motor.

7. Then they didn't have the pink slip but said it would be mailed in two days - 11 days later I finally got it.

8. It was listed as "no rust," and while not too bad in total area, it was extensive in its particular locations.

That said, for a 46 year old car it has good bones. A $1.00 freeze plug fixed the leak. A small amount of fluid got the brakes working.  The exhaust I was going to upgrade anyway. And surprise..., the guy actually had paid $56 on the registration a long time ago, but never completed the paperwork to get it off non-op. So, the $56 was applied to me for tax and transfer!!!

Ahhhh..., yea, "goes down the road nicely (in the trailer)."

Lastly my Pinto came from Ebay  - sort of. It was co-listed on Craig's list.  I offered the guy the asking price and he closed the Ebay sale.  I was expecting a low 3/high 4 car and got a mid 5 car.  With both cars once I got over the initial shock, I was "good with what I had to work with."  Just set expectation a few notches lower than expected and you should be mildly content.
