Title: Remote mirror removal (right door)
Post by: ADaughen on September 09, 2010, 08:00:45 PM
Hey guys, long time no post.

I'm trying to get my ride ready for the 40th!

I need to take the passenger side door off for some TLC.  I forgot it had the remote cable in it.  My manual says to take the door panel off and disconnect the cable mechanism, I don't see a way to disconnect it.  I also lose track of it under the dash.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks,
Adam

When I removed mine by unscrewing  it out at the dash and pulled the mirror off cable and all.

Oi!  That is going to be a bugger.

You just unscrew the chrome collar and it pops out the back side, right?

Yes. My cables went through a couple of zip ties so be careful when pulling.

The rubber grommets will need to come out of the door and the side cowl so the chunky joystick will fit through.
Also there is a retainer in the door that will be obvious.  Just avoid kinking the cable.

Thanks guys, I had to take a pair of channel locks to it, but it finally unscrewed.

Bad part is, the whole bottom of the door is rotted.  Looks like more work for me. :(
