Because my life took a series of left turns on me, it has been a long time since I have been able to return to my '76 wagon project.
However now that I am able to get back to it, I may post somethings about the project from time to time.
My question to you ladies is - would any of you object to me refering to the car as HER or She ?
Being a older guy, I am 'old school',when every ship was a 'she' & every storm was given a 'female' name.
Asking in advance because I don't wish to offend anyone in the PCCA.
Thanks
Shoot, I don't mind! I refer to all three of mine, plus my Isuzu Rodeo, as SHEs! lol. There are guys here who call their sedans/runabouts HEs and wagons SHEs but me, I remember when boats, ships, planes, and most cars were referred to as SHEs and yes I kind of understand why- especially the temperamental ones. Does yours have a name? ;D
I have a theory.. ALL CARS are women, period.. They get mad if you don't pamper them, If they don't want to go anywhere they make sure to make it known, & just like a woman, if they ain't happy ain't nobody happy lmao... Ladies, before you bite my head off, I am kidding, but I still say all cars are "she's"
Matt, I think you hit that nail right on the head! LOL! They also like to be petted and talked to. Mine do anyway! lol. Ok that kind of sounded gross coming from me... :reek:
LMAO.... I didn't think so until u said that.
Yep, always thought of cars as "her" or 'She'!!
No problems here!! ;D
My car has gender issues... It's a girl with a guy's name
Back in the WAY back machine (circa 1989) there was a male Queensland blue heeler named Queenie and a female lab mix named Lloyd (!) at the San Diego Humane Society. I was looking for a pooch at the time. ;D Talk about GENDER issues! lol. Hopefully they got good homes. Matt, I did wonder about Harold II...
Mine is more like a tough bar maid, some times I use a not so nice term when she is being difficult. Louises doesn't trust me yet, she thinks i am trying to make her into the monster parked next to her.
So, are you saying you are Dr Pintostein??

Matt,
Did it ever occur to you that she's rusting in an effort to get away from somebody who would name her Harold???
Dwayne

Nah Dwayne, she was rusted before when she was being called much worse than Harold lol
Poor traumatized lil' car... :'(
I can't really imagine a much worse name for a "female" than Harold, but I'll take your word for it that she's been called worse! Reminds me of Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue". If I could figure out a way to make it rhyme, I'd write a song entitled "A Girl Named Harold" and set it to the same tune!
I know you named Harold II after your mom's first Pinto which was named Harold. Is there some story behind WHY she named her car Harold? Maybe she thought of her Pinto as being male rather than female. It would be interesting to know.
Dwayne

Hmm.... I remember what my friend's dad used to say - "If it flies, floats or fornicates, it is better off rented". :rolleye:
Strange guy he is.........

Well, I think she just decided to name her car Harold because she liked the sound of it. If I recall she did say her car was a "he", but then again this was the same woman that called her 1985 Chevy Celebrity "Bambi" with a rabbit on the dash. Of course she called the bunny "Thumper".

It sounds like your Mom was a real sweetheart with a good and tender nature, in spite of naming her Pinto Harold.
