Title: Efi harness placement
Post by: Bigtimmay on September 04, 2010, 10:48:43 AM
Wheres the best spot to run a Efi harness through the firewall?? I was thinking by the a/c hole in the firewall  so the ecu can be put under the dash by the glove box?

But then again if it runs there it might be a lil close to the heat of the exhaust and the turbo?

If it's a Merkur harness, a little of the car's left of the the left solenoid bolt, just under the firewall seam, and where the harness would slide on top of the AC/heater box. This way you have the do the least spicing.

I do have a merkur harness so what you saying is right above where the A/c lines and such come through the firewall use the hole thats above that?

If its the spot Im thinking of  mine still has the little plastic plug in it but when i pulled it out earlier today it felt solid behind it? Ill go check again though.

I guess I'm late according to another thread, but here it is, highlighted in red.

If you want to keep the AC unit, ignore the Ford holes. Drill the holes up near the seam lips as possible. Otherwise, you'll drill into the plastic back of the AC unit. Don't ask me how I know this.

Hey BigTimmay:

That's a beautiful restore on your engine compartment, super clean. Nice work - looks like it's all coming together well!

thanks y'all  ya i used the factory hole and made it a lil bigger (carbide double cut burr works great for it so you don't hit the a/c unit behind the firewall).

Chris my engine bay doesn't even come close to as nice as your is mines just tossed together for now still alot more id love to do to it but then it would have to sit longer and i really wanna drive it.

I placed my ECU on the drivers side kick panel, I just couldn't find a good spot on the pass. side of the car, I made my hole for the wire inbetween the two existing holes on the drivers side next to the colum, I also moved the started solenoid to the driver side tucked up next to the master cylinder to clear more room for the turbo stuff.
