Title: 1975 Dash?
Post by: STREETREBEL on September 03, 2010, 11:43:02 PM
Found a 77-78 Pinto dash for sale .
Will it fit my 75?
Is $125 a good price, no cracks?
Thanks.

whether the price is right or not is up to you. but i do believe the dash will work, as far as i know the book doesnt show any real differences. but as always I say im sure someone else will correct me if i am wrong.

That will fit and is a very good price for a OEM original. Hope everything works out for you.

I'm pretty sure all the dashes were the same until the '79-'80 models, so it should fit without a problem.  As to value,
I don't know... I have mixed feelings about it.  If it's NOS, then $125 is definitely a good price.  If it is out of a 1977-78 model car, and is original, then you have to consider the fact that it's 32-33 years old and made of the same inferior materials as all the cracked ones you see in cars; it will probably only be a matter of time until it cracks also, especially if exposed to any temperature extremes.  Personally, I'd also consider the condition of the car it is going into and how it is going to be used.  Is it a show-quality example or a daily driver?  It's your decision, and whatever you do you are the one who needs to be satisfied that you made the right decision.  Just some food for thought.  Let us know what you decide!

Good deal!  If you're without a dash, this one is bound to be an improvement.  Here's wishing it will bring you many, many years of crack-free service!

Got my dash today, it's perfect!
Any surefire way to protect it from cracking?
Other than keeping it in the box.

I recommend a spray on protectant. Don't use armor-all, as that can accelerate the process.

I think I'll really keep it in the box until I go somewhere!

Probably not a bad idea!   Seriously, as long as you can protect it somewhat from heat and sunshine (is your car garaged?) and keep it clean, I'm not sure I'd use any product on it.  Some protectants cause real trouble in the long run!
