Title: kick panels
Post by: peleus21 on August 22, 2010, 09:19:48 PM
my other project is to make kick panel molds so i can make stock kick panels and kick panels that can have 6 1/2 inch speakers in them angled at the driver and passenger. if there is enough of an interest i will make real good molds and sell newly made panels for under 50 a set depending on time and costs i am hoping for around a 30 a set. post if this is worth making

The $30 a pair would be a great price... especially for kick panels with speaker cut-outs! ;D

ok so i looked into it further and we can do the stock kicks for 30 but 50 for the speaker kicks unless we get a bunch of people wanting them. quantity will definitely make em cheaper. secondly, the grainy look to the panel, keep it or get rid of it. i don't want my panels with it. but if enough people do we can make it into the mold.

I like the grainy look of the panels, honestly.

My brother made a set of these out of fiberglass when he was doing a custom sound system for for the car before he blew the motor up. They were just as you are describing, angled at the passenger/driver.

The only issue I saw with them was that the dimmer switch would be made inoperable.

I would prefer the textured look of the originals also.

What size speakers do you think will fit?

Never mind I reread the org post...

i am going to make then fit a 6 1/2 slightly angled and i will design it so the dimmer switch is still functional. 6 1/2 are the easiest universal size to find, cheap or expensive, whatever the flavor

I'd be in for a set or two. Any chance they would be available in red?

I have a set of these somewhere around here they where painted purple with house of kolor paint then they got covered in blue fur but i cant remember where i put um. They are super simple to make a little wood some fleece some resin and a little  mesh.
