Originally went out to get the back half of the exhaust and a steering wheel from a couple Mustang II's. I got the steering wheel, but the exhaust I decided to leave since I'm not 100% sure if it is the same as the 78 Sedan.
While walking down an aisle of cars, I found an 88 Turbocoupe, was looking at the motor thinking of how much fun it would be to have in my 78 if I only had the cash. Looked down the row a couple cars down, and there it sat, a 72/73 Pinto station wagon! :D It looks like it was originally blue but someone attempted a silver paint job with a single coat and it didn't come out quite right. Anyhow...
The Pinto is a silver-ish with blue underneath, a lot of the protection trim missing on the sides, no wheels, front grill broken in half, front seats and rear seat bottom missing, no carpet in the back, cracked dash, trashed steering wheel and a missing shift knob. It's a 2.0l 4spd no a/c car with deluxe interior! The door panels are trashed, otherwise I would have grabbed them to put on my 78 (always loved the deluxe interior panels).
I pulled the small center cubby, metal radio bezel, complete instrument cluster (white piece still intact), front left headlight bezel (for Brownie), and the distributor (has a good vacuum advance for brownie!)! From the mustangs I pulled the sport steering wheel with good black rubber (current wheel has it coming off) and the door speaker grills (going to put door speakers on my 78 some time) all for a total of $58 for everything.
Next pay check I'm going to get the rear brake lines off the wagon for Brownie since I can't find my spare ones anywhere, the front valance, timing belt tensioner, possibly the carburetor and the timing belt cover, and the clutch cable and adjustment tube off the mustang.
I was going to grab the taillight bezels for Brownie, as well as the dash wood grain piece off the station wagon, but there are just WAY to many wasp nests on the car! There are wasps ALL OVER that car, inside and out, huge nests under the dash and around the wheel wells. I'll be waiting until winter to pull those parts out, or at least go out with some wasp killer next time I'm out there so I can get what I want.
Anyone need any 2.0l motor parts? The whole motor is there minus the air cleaner, suspension is complete (has a front anti-sway bar).
Becky, I'll try to get the window pivots for you! :) If I can find a key for it or get the hatch out, I'm going to try and get the hatch seal to.
Thank you Dave! Just don't get stung!
Do the wagon's middle windows have one or three buttons? '72s have 3 per middle window. What color is the interior?
brake clean kills them almost instantly drop em right out of the sky! good luck on parts!
Becky, the wagon has the single button on the flipper windows, must be a 73 then. I couldn't get the pivots out, the car looks like it sat in a field for a very long time, the sun probably did a number on the pivots. The interior is blue, but all that is left is the dash, rear seat bottom cushions and plastic panels. The steering wheel is there, but it's trashed. :(
I was out there today and pulled the door panels. Even if they are pretty trashed, perhaps I can do something with the deluxe inserts (wood grain parts with the horse on it) on my regular door panels. I also pulled the dash wood grain strip with the seat belt indicator light, the driver side rear brake line for brownie, the timing belt cover for brownie, and the passenger side rear tail light for brownie. Oh, I also found a Pinto dash "carpet cover". It's blue, but it will help to protect brownie's dash until I start driving her around and get some decent sun shades. Maybe I will just dye it brown if it will hold together and continue using it.
Only two things left out there worth pulling that I can see. The timing belt tensioner and the driver side rear tail light. Maybe the carb, but doubting it since it looks like it hasn't run in ages. Maybe the wiper linkage, but it's so dirty in that car I'm weery of laying down in it and working under the dash.
The brake cleaner worked GREAT! Thank you peleus21! :D
Upon closer inspection the car still has the driver's side rocker panel stainless but the passenger side is missing, isn't in to bad of shape either. It has all of the thin wheel well chrome moldings but three out of the four are in rough shape. It has the roof rack on it, not entirely sure as to what shape it's in though. Any request for things you peeps want off it before it's a shell with a drive train?
Dave are the sunvisors blue? If so how much you want for them?
They are and intact. I will see what they want for them first.
