Title: 78 wagon front sway bar
Post by: ToniJ1960 on August 18, 2010, 07:41:45 PM
My car only has one side connected,so I have a few questions I hope someone can help me understand.

#1 what will it cause if I continue driving it this way, other than that clunking I keep hearing?

#2 is it ok to replace only the side thats broken/missing? I ask because I read its easiest to replace then when the car is on the ground, and sometimes they have to be cut out to be removed. So maybe I will just put one in where its missing :)

#3 is the Moog one the only one available for my car? I would realy like to put in a polyurethane one like energy suspension. I found two of their kits that were presented as fitting my year pinto, but theyre both different lengths from each other. And the moog part looks weird not like them at all either one of them.

So if anyone can enlighten me on some details before I attempt to do this myself,or before I pay someone and maybe not get what I want still?

I think you will be happy with the Moog parts - they will give a factory type ride (when new of course.)

Replace the side that is broke and if it was not too bad a job, replace the other one.  The Moog kit should contain both (if I remember right).

It is easier to replace when the suspension is all at ride level, so driving it up on ramps would be the best way to get clearance and keep it all level.

I need to replace mine some day.....
