Title: distributor cap
Post by: emptynestersx2 on August 10, 2010, 05:14:08 PM
Ive got a 77Pinto which came with the cap having male ends extending from cap. I changed the motor for a 75? which has the female type cap. Can I put the newer one on this distributor? I'll appreciate your help. Kinda feel stupid for asking but I can't remember if they interchange. Thank You all. Tim

I don't think I have ever seen a male style cap??

Here's a bump for your question though! :D

I would think it would be fine, just be sure to change your rotor to the newer style as well. If your old cap had female connections on it, you will need a new set of wires as well.

The male style cap started in 79 i think. You could always switch it to the other style, they interchange but you need the rotor to match it.
