Got a call text from a buddy while I am out of state asking if I wanted to buy his hobby car. Well hell yes! He shot me a 1200.00 price for his 1972 Datsun 240z that only needs brake work and water pump. I have seen the car over the past 5 or 6 years and it is in excellent shape. I guess he is in a bind. Can't get back to Texas fast enough! It has factory installed fender flares and window louvers, the big dual carb straight 6 and 4 speed.
Very cool 302! Enjoy your new project! ;D
Outstanding!
It's so much fun getting a new girl friend, I mean car.....
Yeah I have already been on the web looking up v8 conversion kits. The Z cars really accept a small block chevy with ease.
Those were such neat little cars, for foreign jobs... ::) I had a friend who loved Datsun Zs like I love Pintos. ;D
Back in the days when I was selling cars (late 1970's) we had a metallic blue 240Z on the used car lot that I drove quite frequently. It was a sweet car but was, unfortunately, equipped with an automatic transmission which just seemed wrong in that car! Still made for a pretty good chick magnet!

Glad this one is an 4 Speed. Hey guys PLEASE keep your eyes peeled in your areas for a AMC Gremlin. I will be building another Pinto, but I also want a Gremlin to build and place a 383 stroker in. They are HELL to find. I live in Texas so distance is a matter but I will drive up to 2 or 3 states away for a good solid builder. Looking for one that doesn't run or cost arm and a leg
Sucks 2 years ago i could have bought a gremlin X for 500 it had the 304 V8 in it. Back then i didnt want it and im pretty sure the guy scrapped it.
GREMLIN X very cool car w/SBF.
Gremlins & Hornets with V8's make great hot rods. Id love to have a clean Gremlin.
Well my dad is 66 and ALWAYS says things happen for a reason so I am VERY glad that STREETREBEL bought the little green Pinto! I have wanted a 240Z since I was 15 years old. And this one is AWESOME considering price($1100.00), history of the car, ect. The car was owned by one of my buddies fathers before he passed away. The car was bought as a wholesale car by him at Hoyte Dodge where I used to work back in 2004. The car meant ALOT to Brett and for him to call me and only me to purchase the car means alot.
I replaced the water pump, plugs, oil and filter, and did a general clean up. Car need valve cover gasket replaced, a mount on the rear end that clunks when you change gears to swift, headlight switch, and brakes worked on. I have driven it around here and she rides great. I will be installing my 1200 watt amp, 12" sub, new head unit, and just detailing the hell out of her today.
I had loaded the car on the trailer, sent a pic to a buddy and he sent me back a text "Leave the car on the trailer and bring it straight to me, I will give you $2500.00 right now."
Later plans are a 383 stroker and 5speed(if not TO much of headache I will use a standard) or Th350 auto. And then either Corvette yellow or Viper yellow with black racing stripes. I like this site so until I get another Pinto to build I will just lurk here.

That's a keeper !
That's the Z body style I like the best. She's a beauty 302! Don't you just love '72 cars... it was such a great year you know... ::) (ah, I was born that year, that's why! lol)
I some point in its life with the researching on Z cars I have been doing the bumpers have been moved in and the rear fender flares were added. I am going to do the paint job asap. I want to fix some bubbling and get a fresh coat of yellow on her.
Looks like she's in fine shape! A new coat of paint should make her look great! Enjoy!

Beautiful car. I love the shape of the early z series!
I had, maybe stilll do, the chance to get a '72 240z from an old co-worker if I fixed up her son's car. All it needs is a back window and the interior reassembled. But then again, what would I do with four cars?

OK found a switch for 35 when he gets back into town. Replaced all the plugs, oil/filter, pulled valve cover to replace that gasket that was leaking, replaced the water pump, have electric fan ready to mount, new fuel lines, fuel filter and fuel pump tomm. Looking for some carb horns for these carbs so I can run filter per carb. More I looked and worked on this car last 3 or 4 days more I decided it needs to keep the L24 in it. That straight 6 just looks cool in there. Looked at the odometer 103,847 miles on the car.
Buying a set of carb horns and filter set up for the Z. They are the ones pictured here. Pulling the stock one off and adding these.

The same thing I do... love 'em! ;D
...only you have a better excuse... you have 2 drivers in your family... in my one-woman family I'm it! lol!
Well the little car is cleaning up nicely. I still have to replace a trans mount and then change the fluids in the trans and rear. I am going to do another oil and filter change this weekend as I have drove it a week and I wanted to clean all the gunk out that was in it from siting 5 years.
