Hi Pinto people--------I just returned from a 155 mile round trip 'local' car show at which there were/was me 1 only PINTO there. I didnt have a chance as I was placed between a drop dead beautiful '57 Chevy droptop, original FI, red, frame off resto & an equally well restored 440 Plymouth GTX hardtop.
both were high dollar cars; I can't compete with this kind of cars. No offence
to anyone, but the ol' postalpony was out classed. Quite a few people had
a lot of GOOD comments & memories of Pintos past, so it was all good.

Dick, don't think of yourself and your great little car as outclassed. I was the only Pinto in my own local show, a cherry '65 (?) Mustang convertible on my left and a sweet '60 T-bird convertible on my right. It didn't stop a passel of people from smiling and stopping to talk about their Pintos! I won no prizes either but what a day I had! The happiness my little car brought people was reward enough for me! I hope you had fun! ;D
What year was the GTX? I got my first two tickets(same time) in a friend's 67 440 GTX. A different friend who I was giving a ride home from the Saturday night cruising in downtown Phoenix in 1977 didn't believe that the car could spin the tires. Even the cop said he was impressed. :-)
My mom and dad weren't so thrilled.

Dont you love it when your Pinto seems to draw more comments that the big $$$ cars that are around it LOL!! But pretty much every show I go to (with the exception of a couple) I am totally out classed. But I figure that if i can make one person smile or laugh for the day, I have done my job :)

It sounds like you have the proper perspective on things... and that's what makes it fun!!!

Dick, I wouldn't say your Pinto was outclassed, just different. It's just a matter of time before we get more awards. I know the last time I took my car to a car show back in 2006 I thought the same thing, especially since my car was parked right next to a mint 1989 Camaro & across from nicely modded 57 Chevy's. I found out differently when I was awarded the judges award. That is the only time my Pinto has won an award, that is unless you count Carlisle 2006 when I got "most potential". The comments about the car were enough to make me happy & proud to own her, the trophy was just the icing on the cake, be it a very rusty, unrestord cake lol.
Dick, We took the 76 to Reno (hot august nights) yesterday and our first stop was a Carls Jr to get a burger for a friend in the VA hosp. there. When we came out someone was taking a picture of it! It was cool talking to all the people in traffic who had one at one time or just loved our car. Since we didnt see another pinto all day i guess we were in a "class" by ourselves. And 95 mph wide open with the air conditioner blasting.
Hey Postal Pony cannot be outclassed, did that GTX or the 57 Chevy make the mail run! No! Postal Pony was there, rain, sleet and dead of night. When those other pretty trailer queens were tucked in there beds. Go Postal!!!!!!
Go Postal! Just don't "go postal". Alright alright... bad joke... ::) :P ;D
What class are you running in

The last car show i was at with my 75 [rough and under construction] Pinto, we were parked across the street from one of those $150,000 super smooth Chevelle. Beautiful work and car but we had as much traffic as he did and i honestly think more. The best part was all the people stopping had a Pinto story and a smile. it was a good day.

That seems to be the trend. While show cars have that undeniable "wow" factor, a regular everyday car that has survived the ages tends to pull at everyone's heartstrings!

Postal, I was at a local cruise in just up the road early this spring.I was told there would be at least 40 or more cars there. I WAS THE ONLY ONE.I can't complain too much.I got a free burger out of the deal.

And that's a sure-fire means of winning the "best of show" trophy!!!

Well I'm back from the NMRA/Ford Nationals event at National Trails Raceway
in Columbus, Ohio, where I is/was the only PINTO in the "Focus and other
Compact class" available. I came in 2nd to a deserving Focus that Dynoed
at 214 Front WHP, Supercharged, & Built car. It was a sweet ride, I love
the effort put into this car. We PINTO people can't compete with this new
technology/mindset of the "now" generation. No disrespect to anyone, I
love to see the younger generations involved in the car culture.
Sincerely, The old dinosaur----Postalpony
