Title: The Transformation has begun
Post by: 78squire on July 25, 2010, 06:52:17 PM
Well- it's finally underway - the 78 wagon is getting a complete makeover in time for next year's Pinto Stampede and Carlise!

It came out of the paint bay last week- I can't figure out how to upload photos here, or I'd put them up here - very cool looking.

Next is the engine question - do I rebuild the original engine, and add this header, etc... that I have picked up along the way?   Or... do I drop in the 289 with the C4... any thoughts out there?

Thanks,
Tom

Staying original is a better choice in my books. I wish I had built a turbo 4 cyl engine instead of doing a V8. The firewall was kind of a pain in the butt and chopping open the fenderwells...I hated doing that. If I build another one...turbo baby!!

I am doing a turbo but I know it will never have that sound that you get with a v-8. Might do one after this.

As far as engine goes, I am putting in a 4.6l mod motor, so I may not be a good person to ask. :-)
Seriously, it is your car, do what you want to with it.

About adding pictures. When you make a post (not using the quick reply, cause it won't work) scroll down to additional options, click on it, then scroll down to I think it is add attachements. Click on Browse, then select the picture you want to add. If you want more, you can select add another, up to 4 total. There is also a size limit listed there, so make sure your pictures are sized correctly first.

Hello!  Thanks for the posts, and the information.  I think on this one, I am leaving the original 2.3 in place - I'll probably put it on a stand for the winter and do a rebuild.  The only mod I plan to make is the header, but you know how that goes - I may do more.  The 289 can wait.
I posted some body pictures under a separate thread - "78 Squire Restoration."
I really want to make a decent showing at Carlisle next year!
Thanks again!
