Title: 2.3 into a vw vanagon
Post by: ricco on July 23, 2010, 05:52:56 PM
I've wanted to do this swap for some time. I have a kennedy adapter and flex plate. I can use my vw starter but have to fab some motor mounts.  I'm going to convert to carb on the 2.3 I'll have to fab some down draft tubes for my webber 44.  I would like to use the 8 plug set up. (Maybe run a dizzy on one side and magneto on the other side like air plane engines) or the hemi's-- if anyone has any info let me know.

Thanks Ricco

Any reason on why your so set on running all 8 plugs?

I can tell you right now the 8 plugs dont make it get better mileage or preformance.

The 2.3s in VWs are pretty cool seen it a few times and almost bought a 74 superbeetle with one the otherday if i can get the cash i prolly will buy it then ill turbo it.

why not just leave it fuel injected then?
A harness out of a 91-93 mustang could easily be hooked into the VW.

Dunno how well it would work but you might be able to build some custom spark plug wires that Y off the dizzy and run to each cylinders 2 spark plugs.

Perhaps it is an outdated belief but I believe that hot rodding is not what carb you have but how many and honestly it comes down to that nostalgic look.
