i have an eight plug engine. can i yank the ignition and replace it with a distributor or magneto. secondly, what do i need to convert to carb
The stub shaft oil drive can be pulled and replaced with a dizzy. As for carburating it you either have to swap the head out for a carbed 2.3 head or you would have to build a custom intake/spacer to adapt a carb to the efi head.
If you put a carbed head on it make sure you put the roller cam into the carb head itll last longer and give a little better bottom end power.
Also you will have to use a electric fuel pump due too the block dosent have the hole in it for a mechanical pump.
When i bought my 78 bobcat it had a 90 ranger bottom end with the 78 head on it so i know they will work together.
Hope some of that helps ya.
thanks for the info. how do i fire the other four spark plugs?
1st 1 is 93 2.3 Mustang eng. in a 79 Ranchero. The others are 94 2.3 Ranger with 5 spd in 73 Pinto. These are the D port head you dont use the left side plugs. Fred :)
ya dont you only fire 4 when you swap in a dizzy
thanks.
