just wondering if anybody might know where to find a fuel sending unit for a 71 . mine goes right to full soon as the switch is turned on no matter how much is in it
Are you sure that the sender is bad? If you unplug the wire at the sender, and the gauge still goes to full, then the trouble is somewhere else.

i need to try that you got anymore ideas what it might be
Could be a short to ground possibly. The wires run through the passenger side & I believe if the circuit is grounded it will show full when there is power.
i was thinking about that to soon as the weather is clear long enough here i am going to pull the wires and see what happens then start running it down. if it is the sending unit may have to just pull it and try to repair it since cant find one anywhere.
For craps sake, I have a real nice complete tank for a 71 trunk I can't even give away, it's going to the scrap yard this
weekend if no ones takes it! PS good sender and all!
where you at and what you want for it i would be interested in the sending unit if nothing else thanks
According to the classified ad he only wants shipping... if I could afford it I would snap both tank and sending unit. Luckily my sending units A-OK. ;D
Don't worry people I am paying shipping. Fred
