Can anybody tell me what wires I need to hook up on the harness ? I also need 2 know how to wire up the fuel pump , I didn't get the part of harness that for a to the relay , thanks for any help
I'm sorry, but your question is way too generic for a simple answer. We will need to know what engine, what computer (different models have different pin outs) and what you intend to use for a wire harness.
Regarding the fuel pump it will need a relay for on/off. I used the stock '88 Turbo Coupe harness (a nightmare) so I included the factory relay box for both the fuel pump and the fan. You should also incorporate the collision shut off switch into the fuel pump line for safety.
For an FI engine swap having the donor car is a blessing.

Another thing is to get a manual for the donor car. Yeah, it seems like a waste of money, but if you get one that has the wiring diagrams it will be a big help. Along with info on anything else you may be taking from that car. Like fuel pump info. :-)

87 turbo coupe motor & computer LA2 , 1989 2.3 mustang harness , wiring the harness to the motor is not the problem , what wires to hook power to the computer & pump is where I need help , the pump is a inline bbk
any chance you have access to the original 88 harness. everyone says it is hard to work with only because the rest of the cars wiring is in the same bundle. i can give you a pinout of the ecu . trim away any wires to the ecu that are not noted on the pinout and strip from the connector forward to be left with only the required stuff. as far as using the 89 harness you now have to repin and add several wires for sensors and octane switch etc.
either way the fuel pump relay hooks to the connector near the ecu that has a brown and a red wire. basic 4 wire relay is hot / fused output to pump ground and trigger to the ecu (red hot brown ground) with the inertia switch tied between the ecu and relay on the red wire. ( i prefer to put it on the low power signal side vs the main feed to the pump as it is lower amperage
don't bother buying manuals. google evtm and 88 t bird download and view as required

i hope you have the vam harness from the TC cause you will have to wire that up too.
:search:I have the van harness , I got fuel pump wires figured out now (thanks for that info) now I just need to what wires to hook up for constant 12v & key on power ? Is there 1 wire for each , or a bunch
i think theres 2 constants and one keyed power and 4 grounds(1 is the metal case ground) but id have to wait till i got home to make sure as for the colors of the wires i dont have wiring diagram of a mustang for that but i could prolly find one.
Im using a merkur harness but it has a larger gauge yellow wire that runs from the main power relay that hooks to pin 1 on the ecu and it needs hooked to a constant +.
Then i have a plug with 2 reds wires one is for key in on position + and the others for key in start position + and thats all the power wires my harness has.
There are also 3 negative wires that need hooked directly to the - batt terminal. One comes from the main power relay and the other 2 come from pins 40 and 60.
Pin 20 is the case ground and is best grounded as close as possible to the ecu.
That should be all the wiring thats needed to run oh and atleast on my 78 bobcat the spot where the keyed on/start wires hook too is over by the mastercylinder.
Hope atleast some of that helps ya.
