Well my friend finally gave me my G-Tech back and since I work out in the country and use back roads to get there.... Well you see where this is going :) oh did I mention I work at night?
I still have an all stock 72 2.0 4-speed Pinto and on my first hot and humid night ran a best of... Well :rolleye: ok 19.20 Seconds at 74 MPH. 0-60 was like 12.3 seconds. :embarassed: I know, I know stock Pinto hot night :) right? Also had to practice launching since the gear ratios on the 4-Speed are pretty bad from a drag racing perspective.
Night two... Way better launch 0-60 in 11.4 the 1/4 in 18.44 at 76 MPH! I cant believe I actually shouted with glee when I got below the 19s.
I'm in need of an aftermarket air cleaner that will bolt to that weird Holley/Weber carb and an electric fan. And a header :)
I also have a race 2.0 and tranny from a Pony stock race car with esslinger goodies on it but I am a little afraid of it's street manners after I saw how huge the cam was :)
Just sharing the fun :)
Put the other motor in & run the crap out of it. (Be careful when / if you dump the clutch from a stop)
Does not seem too bad for a stock 2.0!
I have one of those G-tech units, too - never really messed with it though. I should....
The G-Tech pretty much turns your car into a video game. I swear it's addicting. I didn't take it to work on purpose last night so I wouldn't be tempted to beat on the Pinto. So tonight the Ranger or the Maverick will be the next victim er... test subject.
Last time I clocked the Maverick it did 13.8 @ 105 MPH and I didn't launch very good on that one. Did that about 5 years ago.
Oh I think I will put the angry 2.0 in it. If I keep it. I might be getting another Pinto soon and haven't decided if I'm keeping both. Or letting the 72 go to a good home. I have developed an emotional attachment to that damn car. It always works and drives like the go-cart I always wanted as a kid :) All I have done to it is advance the timing and added pertronix and the car loved both those mods.
