Title: Cosworth Pinto Update - Tires at last!
Post by: cossiepinto on July 03, 2010, 12:43:53 PM
I'm in the final stages of getting this thing on the road.  I bought tires last week!  They are BF Goodrich G-Force Sports, 225/50-15s.  I have fretted about the stance the car might have with 2-inch dropped spindles, etc, but it looks like I worried over nothing.  Although the engine and transmission aren't yet in there, I doubt I'll get much more than another inch of squat...perfect.

I have an appointment at the local Ford dealer to have Extreme Liner sprayed in the tub and trunk area on Monday.  Then, it's finally time to assemble the thing!

Here are a few pics I just took after rolling it outside.  Enjoy.

Looks to be a quick change racing rear.

Thanks for the compliment.  The rear end is a mini-quick change from Speedway Engineering ( http://1speedway.com/ (http://1speedway.com/) ).  They make rear ends for racers, street rods, etc.

This rear end has floating hollow axles, disc brakes, a drive shaft-mounted parking brake, and of course the quick change.  Standard gearing is 4.11, but with the spur gears I have it geared 3.48.  By changing the spur gears top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top, I then have 4.88 in a matter of minutes.
