Went to Ogden to see if there were any Pintos in any of the junk yards today. Everyone just laughed and said "I ain't seen one of them in years!", but i did find one. Guy says "yeah, I got one, I'll sell ya the whole car". I said "let me see it and see if it's got the parts I need". So I go look at this car and holy crap, this thing is all but totally perfect. It's a 79, 2.3, the body is totally straight with almost no rust, the interior is as perfect as a 25 year old car could be, still has the original radio. If that isn't enough, there's a turbo 2.3 sitting in the back of it. Obviously, I can't take anything off of that, so I go inside and he says I can have the whole thing, turbo 2.3 AND the T-3 (or 5, whatever it is) that came with it for $700. :o
So, now I have three Pintos and still need the parts I was looking for in the first place. I don't know, maybe I'll part the '75Â :'( even though it runs so friggin good and I like the older ones better. Haven't decided. Probably end up keeping all three. Doesn't cost me anything but $25/ month in insurance. I think there's still a couple in Clovis, N.M. I can still get parts off of when I run down there.
Ya know the weirdest thing, my wife hates Pintos and she didn't complain a bit. ???
My wife hated Pintos....when i took her to see it before i bought it, she said "my God that think is fugly" Now......4 years and many thousands of dollars later she LOVES the thing! Go figure ???
I hear this so often,"I wish my better half liked cars." I have no pity for you. Like I get to drive the pinto on a nice day, right! To top that off, I find a 78 with all the interior and trim stuff I need, Stallion wheel, mint black dash, very good black carpet, guages, dual sport mirrors ect..... Do I get to put it all in the turbo car? No, it is now "her" car, and I better not touch a thing!!!! BTW:"When you get the chance, put a t/c engine in it" Rant, Rant, Rant, but I would not have things any other way.
Great deal!
Anyway, I hope all is well at your place. Sometimes I would rather get talked to about stuff like that, that way I know what she is up to.
I have been out your way, like it, salt flats too(utah, right?).
Bill
Great find, man. Sounds like you got one hell of a package deal. The only bad thing I can see is...you're going to have to change your screen name. ;D
Good catch on the name the name thing.
My wife does like cars, just not Pintos.
Yes, Utah.
I put a battery, 1 quart of oil and 1 gallon of gas in it and drove it away. The front end is loose, but that might have been because of the turbo 2.3 in the back. It's AWESOME!!!
The factory AM radio works.
Wife loves driving the Green Runabout,
Gald it was you who found it instead of me, I'd have one more as well.
Glad you rescued it from the crusher...
It's decided. I will put the turbo in the 75, make the 74 and 75 twins and see which one I get get to 10 seconds first. My bet is on the turbo.
I know nothing about NOS, so I might be picking some of your brains about that.
The 79 will be the hit really hard car.
