Hi, I'm new to this forum. I actually own a carpet cleaning business and have been trying to buy a customers pinto. 73 with 80,000 miles! Looks like I may have lost the buy, he went to sell it to someone but the transmission is having issues. It's at the Ford dealership now and the customer remembered that I was a car nut and asked me for help.
The issue is that it grinds when putting it into gear, or shifting. I don't know anymore than that really since I haven't driven the car. My customer is asking me if I know of anywhere to get another transmission since Ford has discontinued making parts for his transmission (it's a 4 speed manual by the way) I told him to make sure the dealer checks the oil level in the tranny first of all!
So my question is this: Does it make sense to do a T5 conversion? Or does anyone have a good working 4 speed they want to sell?
Make sure clutch is adjusted right. It may not be disengaging enough. Fred :)
