hey all, I have never attempted to try this before, however, was wondering if anyone has placed a battery into a car to charge the electrical system while the motor is out of the car? If you have what precations did you take to make sure you didn't short anything? I want to finish wiring up the new stereo, gauges, under dash switches and the new fuseblock that is going to be wired to the custom options that are going int othe build. not to mention the MSD igition kill switch.
Any ideas or trials and errors will be great.
thanks
You shouldn't have any problems doing that. Just make sure you tape up all the wires going to the alternator. Individually wrap them in some electrical tape and you should be good. You can take the cable going from the starter solenoid to the starter off if you haven't already. That way if you happen to hit the ignition switch you wont have any fireworks going on. Other than that everything has connectors on it and shouldn't give you any problems.
thanks RSM the main set of wires for the starter/alt are out, nothing is in the motor compartment of major concern, just the starter relay (but this is being replaced anyway). I supose as long as everything is grounded good things should be fine.
cheers
