Has anyone out there ever installed a sbc into a pinto?
There is one on CL I saw with a Chevy stroker recently.

i havent but ive seen it really doesnt seem all that hard unless your talking like a EFI LS1
then it might be a lil harder. But as for mounting it and a trans it woould just require building mounts and thats easy.
How do they handle that Pintos have front sumps and Chebbies have rear sumps?
Sacrelege! :nocool:
they make a chevy front sump pan because the old chevy II novas came stock with front sumps
the oil pan was my biggest concern..if anyone has any more info on the front sump chevy pans please let me know. I've had one with a small block Ford in the past. Just picked up a '72 and am thinking of going the sbc route.
the old chevy II/Novas came factory with front sump pans but thats about all i know i wanna say they came on the 62-67 cars.
Also you might be able to get away with using one of these to fit a SBC in a pinto i know its for a 240sx but still.

can it be any easier to install an SBC than an SBF?
Doubt it. Keep it Ford. It wil be a more unique vehicle that way.
quite a few years a go a friend of mine had a chevy in his pinto he told me the pan sat on the cros member and had to make the engine stick through the hood alot.
Just Say No to Ch-Ord's. Realistically everything fits if you own a welder a saw and a hammer. Sell your pinto and get a vega or a monza. then the sbc and th350 ya'll got sittin' in the 86 iroc mullet special can have a home.
Seriously with the huge availability of good flowing heads for the windsors why bother. with a 408 stroker and the kitted and converted c6 my 81 f150 is all kinds of nasty.
if you want something different for the sake of different why not go 4.0l v6 and efi, take the new 2.3 ford builds and stuff it in there. duratech V6.find a new sho thats been smashed and get the driveline at auction. 365 horses of twin turbo v6. hell go electric or put in pedals... anything but a small block chebby.
Such sacrilege is usually left to the bucket T and deuce crowd. Shame on you.
Do what ya will. It is after all your wheels and your spare time to kill.

(note. the above is a light hearted look at the simple question of WHY?)
Sorry but i'm disgusted at the thought of this!
Do it and then when people ask why a chevy in a Ford, tell them you wanted to go fast! Chevy is just sooooooooooo much easier to work with since the sbc parts interchange from early 60's all the way to 87. Ford has to much -this year and this year don't interchange, you can't use these heads with that engine, ect. You can interchange from crank to intake on a chevy.

X2!
I have a Mopar, a 64 Nova, and a Pinto in my shop. I like'em all, but.
Just because chevy is cheaper doesn't make it better. And, there are a lot
of cheap ford parts on the market now compared to years ago.
Besides, isn't putting a chevy into a ford or mopar like having a sex change!
it all goes back to what hot rodding is all about. Build what you want however you want and go with it. My little 240Z I bought is all original and sweet. But if that straight 6 takes a dump it is getting a 383 stroker and a 5 speed. I have had plenty of odd car combos and enjoyed all of them. If everyone built what is considered the "norm" then hot rodding would be dead.

i had a 350 chev in my 325i (both car and engine where free) and had to find a front sump pan fond one from a chevy van im a true blue ford guy but im thinking of putting a ls1 in a 1969 Austin mini but the only way ur going to get a chevy into one of my pintos is to shoot me first
this is a sick thing ur thinking of doing plz go back to pulling wings off fly's lol
Yall are gunna hate me then cause after i get the 2.3 turbo swap done and it either dies or just gets boring im gunna swap in a LS motor so i can twin turbo it.
I dont care what brand a car is use what you have or what you can get just dont let um sit.
Only people i wanna piss off is the diesel guys i still wanna buy a 2000 dodge 4x4 cummins pull the motor out and put a duramax into it then use the cummin long block as the weight on the front of it for pullin.
