What are the different models of Pintos, and what makes them so?
I have seen Runabout, sedan, EES, CW, MPG etc...
I know what the CW is, and I think the Runabout is the "Trunk" model, right?
What makes an MPG, smaller jets and higher rear gears?
Thanks,
Mike
Rallye, pangra, stilletto oh and the flying pinto LOL
Runabout refers to the hatchback models. The "trunk models" were sedans.

If I remember correctly from the "Gas Crisis" days in the 70's, the MPG models had lower gear ratios to slightly improve mileage. With the lower ratios, they were slower, and more prone to "pinging" (detonation), due to low rpm's.
I cut out an article (and have it to this day) when I was a kid about the Flying Pinto. It really was a Pinto, and it really did fly....that is...until it crashed on one of the test flights, killing the main engineer (see Sticky Thread above about the Mizar). It's hard to convince folks this car really existed, but it did.
Pintony owns Mizar the flying pinto now, sans the wings. lol :o
Hmm, I see an ad for a '76 V6 Runabout over to the left, and it has a trunk.
Perhaps it is mis-labled?
I figured the MPGs were geared (numerically) lower.

I don't see the ad you referred to but rest assured, if it has a trunk and is labled a Runabout, it is definitely mis-labeled. All Runabouts were hatchbacks.
