Title: Thought I was going to get a Pinto wagon, at last...
Post by: powderblue76 on June 03, 2010, 11:52:41 PM
Heard tell of a Pinto in decent shape, in a field, for the taking.
Finally got some pics of it.  :hypno:
Looks like I will get the 2.0 or 2.3, 4 speed and rear out of it, and maybe some parts.
If it is not as bad as the pics show, I MAY give it a shot.
Speaking of shot, it has bullet holes, and the left rear and tailgate glass are no more.
Not even sure what year it is yet.
The 4 speed might find a home where the slushbox now lives in my '76.
I was really looking forward to a wagon, as I need some room to stretch out.

This is a test to see if I got it right.

It looks like an early ('72-'75) but I need more pix, like grille, bumpers, etc. plus, I would like a gander at the door panels. ;D

Steering wheel is pre-1975, assuming that it's original and/or correct for the car.

Yup!  That steering wheel + those bumpers = 1974.

Oh that poor baby! WAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :'( :'( :'(  She looks like something from Creepshow (remember- Stephen King's redneck character fooled around with that oozing space rock and everything got covered in green moss?) It wouldn't be so bad if that poor Squire had THIS:

To be clear, I have not seen this car, these pics were taken by some brave souls who ventured into the East Texas wilds in search of project fodder.
From what they tell me, this (and other cars) are past a field, across a creek, behind a wall of oak trees.
To which I wonder...did they drop these off with a helicopter?

You know, you always think that your own project is "tough", and then you see something like this. Wow! Hope you can get it and really do something special with it!

Depending on how rough it is I may just part it out to folks who need the stuff, and use the shell to tote stuff around the farm.
Or, if it just has a case of the major butt uglies and is still solid, it will get a second chance at life.

two things came to mind reading this, is the shell worth the tow bill?  and 2  are your friends still going to talk to you after you ask them for help to get it out, PS you will need chains, 2 4X4's, 5 large guys and tons of beer, and maybe a chainsaw for good measure.... LOL.  loved the helicopter part.

cheers

Tow=Free
Friends to help out are in my car club, and are the ones who told me about it.
I plan to extract it with my 1948 Frod 8N. It has pulled bigger out of worse.
All the rest of the tools will be present.

Well, I am a hopeless optimist, so I vote you try to save her if you can (and want to).  I love that green (no not the moss) coupled with the Squire sides. I'm funny that way. ;D  Good luck!

If you part it out, I could use the clips that hold the molding on  ;D
Do me a HUGE favor and take LOTS of pictures when you go and get it. I need them for a project I am working on  ;D

If you have the buddies and a free tow might as well get her out of the weeds  :)  you never know, nothing is ever beyond fixing, just comes down to love and deep pockets.
