This is my configuration. I built a set of rigid mounts but did not weld the motor bars so I can move the unit around a bit till I fit up the exhaust manifolds(WHATEVER THEY WILL BE). I am compelled to get it lower and back farther. It will be 1/4 of an inch above the rack. Is this ok? Heat? Am I in the ballpark here? What should my points of interest be? I am using the stock trans mount in the stock fashion and it looks like I will need to shorten the driveshaft a bit, Is this right? I have an 8 inch rear end. What is the general opinion of ridged motor mounts? This Pinto will be a daily driver.

I dunno about the mounts, but I'm pretty sure a Mustang upper intake will fit better. The t-bird/crown vic unit looks like it'll be getting REALLY intimate with the master cylinder. You can use a mustang unit with the stock battery mount (at least I did in a 'Stang II)
solid mounts are fine, but you WILL feel the vibrations from the engine, my pan is VERY close to the rack, and no problems to report. Yes, you'll likely have to cut the driveshaft a bit. Tell me, does it look like the intake will fit under the hood? If not, by how much?
Right now that manifold fitting under the hood is marginal. It looks like it will make it in the back but not so much in the front. Like by an inch or so.I am going to wittle away at the motor mounts till an approximate clearence of 1/4 of an inch is achieved between the pan and the rack. And then I will place the hood and see what it looks like. I have been contimplating a hood cut but I think that milling the manifold between halves might be possible. Did I say that I was planning to use a Rochester Quadrajet carb on top of an active mixing chamber.

Personally, I would not use solid motor mounts in a daily driver. If you're worried about movement, you can use a chain on the left side to limit the engine's movement, but it will vibrate like crazy with solid mounts. If you put a cam in it, it will rock the car AND vibrate it.
I used a set of Hedman "hedders" for a Mustang II, but I still had to bend them out of the way on the left and they touch the frame on the right, so I think I'll try block huggers.
My pan is about a 1/4" away too. Close as I could get it.
Good luck. :)
