I was just on a site where i seen a 4.6 cobra motor(supercharged) installed in a mustang II and a 5.4 lightning motor(supercharged) in another. Here are the links.....if they'll fit in a II, they'll fit in the pinto! If i had not bought the 408 stroker kit i would have built an aluminum 4.6.......maybe someday.

That looks like it would be a great possible swap for someone who might want some gas mileage with their horsepower. The best part is that I was looking through a Jeg's catalog the other day and they had a full ready to run 4.6L and T-5 for sale in there. Can't remember the price, but it wouldn't be that bad and probably cheaper than buying a totaled mustang that was still complete drivetrain wise.
Might have to alter my plan for my own Pinto, I was thinking carbureted 302 or maybe 351W(if I felt like burying myself in speeding tickets)... But the EFI 4.6L or 5.4L would be slick, and a nice centrifugal supercharger stuffed right next to it or even mock up a twin turbo setup(saw one in an Fbody that looked wicked), that could make my little Pinto something fun to mess with.
Plus I'd love to see the looks on the faces of anyone at a parts counter if I'd order parts for a late model Mustang and they see an old Pinto in the parking lot. ;) Fun times.
I'm sure it can be done, but be warned. The 4.6L OHC engine is physically about as big as a 460. And getting normally aspirated horsepower is not cheap. The 408 stroker is not such a bad choice.
thats ok, as the 460 fits also! Mountain motor 800ci in a Pinto.....lots of gas though. You can get 600hp out of a stock '03 cobra motor easy, still have great mileage too, for a few thousand more, add a Kenne Bell whipple charger and have 710hp at the crank on pump gas, without doing anything else to the engine. I wouldn't dream of putting in a naturally asperated modular motor. With twin 56mm turbos, same engine, 830hp on pump gas. Tough to beat that.
Well I saw a Shiney stroker kit for a 460 SVO block that went to 806, with a 4.625" bore and a 6.000" Stroke...
Can you say power? Imagine that puppy with a monster blower on top and a couple of 1100CFM King Demon 4bbls on top. I mean that monstrousity could make at least 1000 HP if tuned correctly. Although I think I'd be scared as hell to drive something that powerful, even though it'd probably subside as soon as my foot went to the floor for the first time I heard those tires light up and feel that car go back in a wheelstand.
Man, now I think I'm going to have to build an 806 just to see how that feels... Although my smallblock V8 Pinto comes first... Projects for the future, hell I'm not even twenty yet so I have more than enough time.
