Title: Wagon dome light
Post by: Pangra74 on May 21, 2010, 05:15:51 PM
Hey y'all,

This wagon I just bought has what looked to be a dome light in the roof behind the seats. Nothing left but some screw holes and a wire. Have there ever been any factory lamps up there in a wagon? The rest of the headliner is perfectly intact and it would have been difficult to run that wire from the windshield courtesy light

What year of wagon? My 1980 Squire doesn't have a light in the middle.

A 78 Bobcat Wagon I parted out at the junk yard last year had a dome light in there. After loading and unloading Brownie at night, I can see why it would be a nice option, though.

I pulled the light, not sure if I want to keep it or not. If Fred doesn't have one I'll sell it to ya.

Never heard of it. Dealer install?

I think it was an owner install. There was a wire running above and through the center of the headliner from the driver's side. Rather than having the entire headliner replaced, I may make some sort of map light to cover the small holes and wire it in a similar way, or do something battery powered. The headliner is in excellent shape, so I'd rather not mess with it. I may have some Cruisin' Wagon questions for you Alberto as this is a 74 with CW panels screwed on. I have no idea what the intereior panels look like on a real CW. This interior will probably be all custom.

The 78 Bobcat wagon I just sold to Chad [75bobcatv6] had 1 in back with a switch on it. It looked like factory installed. Also had back door button switch.  Fred   :)

Hey Fred...do you have any of those lights that would go in the back of a wagon? I see where they recessed the trim panel to accept one but my car doesnt have it. Would be nice to have a light in the back.

This lamp wiring and holes was just behind the front seats, not in the back

Joe have not seen that on any of my wagon's. Robert I don't have any extra lights. You should be able to match cut out with something from auto part's.  Fred   :)
