Title: Oil Pan Sellection
Post by: High_Horse on February 05, 2005, 12:48:01 PM
Hello Guys,
I have a 77 Pinto wagon that I have finally decided to put a 302 into. This car came new with a 2.8 v6 and air. That is all. I am currently in preliminary fitup. I am fitting up with a 289 oil pan and it seems to look good. But is there a better pan that I can use. One that will let me get it in there a little farther and deeper. I do have the stock transmission mount in place although i turned it around to fit. I did tap on the firewall to get a little more room but again is this the best pan or would a mustang pan work better. I am video documenting this project. And also is there somebody that might be interested in the 2.8 v6. it has 100 thousand on it and would need rebuilt. Oh!! i am using a c4 PEP trans. I want to do this conversion the best that it can be done. I plan to drive this car for many many miles. Also what headers would work the best. Stock or what ever. I am shooting for the best and most mechanically sound job on this car. Please give me some advise. Jermie1100@aol.com

best fit would be a mustang II pan, but any front sump pan will fit with a few well place taps with a BFH. Headers......many choices there, hooker, hedman, shorties flipped. I guess it depends on what kind of money you want to spend.
