Title: Donor Motor
Post by: pintogirl on May 15, 2010, 05:58:32 PM
Hubby came across this motor!

He picked it up for 60 bucks! I even got to test drive it because it was/is still in the car! It is comeing out of a 78 Mustang 2! We will be pulling motor and tranny tomorrow and I plan on trying to get hubby to put this motor in Bella the 74 Squire. It's motor smokes and we have never got it to run right yet do to carb problems. I figured this M2 motor runs so good that I would rather quit dealing with the carb, then deal with the smoke of the old motor!

The sad thing is, this M2 is in great shape! I don't see a dent in it. The uphulstery is actually pretty decent too. The guy that owns it already has sold the front clip and all off of it! We are buying motor, tranny, brake booster, and center consol! All for 100 bucks!!

What else do you all think I should save off of it?

Oh, and I tried to get hubby to buy me the whole car, but he said no. LOL I think he wants to stick to Pintos! That and the guy already sold the front clip! Oh Well! LOL

Keep bugging Bob for the whole car! Mustang IIs are rarer than Pintos now! That one really does look pretty good! :'(

How much are they worth Fred? I need to know how much to go up to when we ask the guy about them!

Will they fit your Pinto?

Sorry Becky, the car has already been spoken for, as far as parting it! We can't change the guys mind and if we could it would probably take alot of money to change it! LOL

Oh... I thought you wrote you wanted Hubby to buy it but he said no... plus the front clip was already sold. I'm assuming front clip is fenders, bumper, grille, bezels, ...?  That's why I said what I said.

Yah, that is what I meant Becky. He has already sold the front clip. So he is parting the car out. I believe the other person is going to cut the front end off the car! Not sure though how or what he plans on keeping, but that is what hubby made it sound like the guy was going to do!

Save the sport mirrors and the wheels.

I will ask how much he wants for the mirrors. I don't need them, do you? How much are they worth?

The wheels don't match. The fronts are American ???? something or other wheels and the back one (not sure about the other back one) is a Cobra wheel. Atleast that is what is on the hubcap! LOL

I don't need them but someone else might.  They are same as the Pinto.

If the car still has it....the clutch adjustment tube and cable can be used on the Pinto with a little bit of modification. I'm using that combination on my 78 since the Pinto style clutch cable kept tearing through the firewall.

It may have an 8" rear end... Not sure.  If it does, grab it!  Works great for pintos with a turbo 2.3L.

It didn't have an 8" rear end, if it did we would have bought that too! LOL

We did get the console and all the brackets. It is in good shape except the padded lid. It will need to be rebuilt or replaced!

We took the car back to the guy on Monday.
