I bought a '77 Cruising Wagon last weekend (details in the 'General Pinto Talk' forum) You can see in the pic thai it took a pretty good hit in the rear corner, and I am asking for opinions if this can be repaired for a reasonable price that will not exceed the value of the car by too much. I have done some minor body work, but this Far exceeds anything I would attempt, so I will have it done at a body shop.
TIA!
Mike
I'm not an expert...but judging by the rest of the car... it would be worth fixing. From the looks of this picture, it seems like you could cut out the badly damaged part and weld in a new section to fix it. Grind the welds and finish off with the little body filler and you have it back to looking good. But maybe the picture doesn't show the full damage and maybe I'm not experienced enough to know, but that is how it looks to me.
Good luck with whatever you do to it and the other pictures looked like a good project, even if thats not what you were initially looking for :)

If thats all the body damage there is I would say fix it. It would be a shame to scrap a good car due to some minor damage. In the long run the car overall is worth way more than the cost to fix it. If this is a project car then a few buck here and there won't hurt so bad. I hope you fix it!!!
If this photo shows the true extent of the damage, and the car is nice otherwise, then it is definitely worth fixing This is relatively minor damage.

Agreed with everyone. This is a "cut out/find replacement/weld in" job that deserves attention.

talk to fred morgan lol he has wagons maybe he has this he is willing to cut out and ship to you so you can have it replaced at a body shop
Thanks to everyone for the opinions. There is no body 'cancer' on it at all, just a some surface rust. The hood is bent, and the grille and turn signal are broken, but I have spares of those parts. The engine rotates, and the compression is ok. I will get the engine running, then take it to some body shops for an estimate. Its too bad about that dent, but I would hate to part out a CW that can be fixed.
lugnut... now THAT'S what a driveway should look like!!! lol. Love the yellow-green wagon!
Yes, definitely don't scrap her. Bend her... shape her... anyway you want her... lol (couldn't resist!)
90 % of it is there, can ship for a total of $30.00. Fred :)

Thanks Fred! That is very reasonable offer. Unfortunately, I need that missing 10% too. Right now I'm focusing on getting it mobile under its own power. Before I do much more, I plan to see if the body shop can straighten whats there, or if they would rather weld in another corner section. What really bites is that I scrapped a wagon with that part ok a bit over a year ago!
