I was looking at this http://www.cookieboystoys.com/friends/purplepinto.htm (http://www.cookieboystoys.com/friends/purplepinto.htm) and dig the hell out of the door panels. Where did you get them done and can I get them done for the 75 wagon I have?
Im sure cookieboy can tell you where maybe. but the source would be best. his name is Pintony. Maybe cookie can call em up for the number of the shop he used =)
Tony made them himself as I recall... made a door panel, carved the shapes from foam and used meterial of choice to cover.
cookieboy beat me too it but ya those are super simple to make.
Either use the stock cardboard panels or make new ones out of a thin sheet of wood use some thin foam cut it and layer it how you want it to look then glue the foam to the door panel.Cut a piece of material about 2 1/2 inchs larger then the panel all the way around using spray glue glue the material onto the door panel streching and pressing it onto all the layers so your raised design comes out smooth and not wrinkled and once the front of the panels all glued just wrap the excess material over to the back and glue it.
This is the same process used in making fiberglass panels too with the exception that instead of using watever material you want you have to use fleece then once its all glued and looks how you want it you use fiberglass resin and a brush and brush it over it. Fleece absorbs alot of resin so youll need to put prolly 6-8 layers once the resins cured you can sand it to knock off most of the bumps in the resin if there are any then skim coat it with some body filler and sand that smooth then prime it and paint with your choice of color and paint scheme.
Working at a stereo shop had its benefits.
