I have a 77 wagon I bought from my neibor. The 2.8 V6 it was originally equipped with has been bored out to a 3.0 , a bigger cam installed , dual Flowmaster exhaust w/headers and MSD Ignition. The exterior of the vehicle is still an eye sore with patches of bare metal and primer , but that's no problem for me. My biggest concern is that the fuel system and intake remain completely stock. I'm thinking electric fuel pump and turbo. Any suggestions?
The Ford 2100 carb that's on it is plenty big enough for that motor. 450 CFM is about as big as you would want to put on it.
You could polish the intake ports and port match them to the heads and probably get just as much or more than you would buying a new intake.
It would be easier and likely cheaper to tickle it than try to turbo it.

Not according to my wife, and mine is not that bad looking. She also said if it gets any faster, she won't ride in it.......... guess I'll be drivin solo.
there are quite a few mods you can do to the 2.8 to get some juice out of her. Some are easy, some aren't.
Since yours has a performance cam, i would look into getting a 4bbl offenhouser intake. They come up on ebay every now and then, but you can still buy them new.
If you want to go even crazier get a set of 1974 heads (they flow a little better and don't have an EGR port), get the larger 2.9 valves put in with a 3-angle valve job, and you can get ranger 2.8 pistons put in. They have a higher compression ratio than the 74-79 pistons.
all of that will put you in the 160 hp range. Its not unheard of to get 250 hp out of a n/a 2.8.

Thanks a lot , guys. I really appreciate the input. You always hear about the 4's and the 8's , but nobody really says much about the 6's. If anybody's got any success stories about a 6 , please feel free to share them. By the way , sorry about the eyesore comment. She's been sitting in my neibors back yard for 4 years , but even with no paint , she still carries herself well. She's my diamond in the rough. I'll try to get some pics up as soon as I can...
I'll tell you something about a v-6. I was in line, at the local Drag track, behind a Ken Duttweiler stickered Buick Regal. this guy staged, boosted up his engine (ignoring the green light) and bam, wheels up mid 8 quarter mile. My mouth about hit the floor. When this car was idling in the staging lanes, it sounded like a mild camed complete exhaust street car!
More power to ya if you install a 6 and turbos rule!
I just got my tax check today....WOOOOHOOOO!!!!....The wife says I have a grand to spend...THE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!! It's my day off and I'm goin' shoppin' ! 8) I'll keep you guys posted...
Well, I thought I'd start with the simple things first. I took PAIROPINTOS advice and went with a nice, brand spanking new motorcraft 2 barrel carb. I was having ignition problems, though. So I decided to replace the MSD with a brand new, completely stock ignition(for now.) The increase in power was phenominal. The only thing left to do is drop the tranny and install some nylon tabs on the end of the shifting forks(I'll explain later), and she'll be road ready. 8)
Bark 'em in third for me!! ;)
