I have a 1980 Ford Pinto Pony. I was wondering if there was any way to move the seats back a few inches, because I am 6'2 and it would really help to have a litte more room for driving.
i feel ya on that im 6' 2" also i planned on drilling new holes in the seat tracks cause i wanna install some new seat in my bobcat anyhow im not to sure how well it would work with stock seats though
Me too! 6'4"! I also want to know if anyone has put in tilt steering. That would work for me.
Couple of years ago I bought a good friend some seat extenders for his 68 Firebird, he is 6'06" and looked so friggin cramped in the car. His knees were almost to the top of the dash, lol. Anyway the seat extenders were some flat metal that got bolted to the floor in the usual seat mounting spots and the seat was moved 2 inches back and bolted down to the new mounting points on the flat metal. I know kinda vauge discription, but it has been 8+ years and the old memory isnt as good as it used to be. I got them off ebay.
Good thread, 6'3" here, have been thinking of doing this to the drivers' seat myself. I fit - but ALMOST don't.
Chris
Take one of the "baby buggy bumpers" out of each side of the seats, and you will have much more room. I'm 6-3 and fit fine. Their black plastic and go between the top and botton halfs of the seat, if you still need help. Take them both out and play "low rider".
Im 6-3 and I relocated the seats back a whole 9" inches. Now the car feels like a limo!!
What did you do to make them go back 9 INCHES!!!!!!!!!
gunna guess he unbolted the seat frames and drilled new holes and bolted them back 9 inches
oh, i didnt read the part where it said he "relocated" the seats.
