Did all Mustang II's have the 8 rear end in them or was it just certain models?
Thanks, Tink
Certain models, V8's for sure and I think most V6's.
So a stang II with a 2.3, 4 speed would probly have the same rear as a pinto?
Thanks, Tink
well best way to tell is crawl under it i think. if its a drop out center gear section its an 8 inch. if it has the inspection cover on the back its the pinto stye. 6 3/4" i think.. i pulled one out of a Mustang II saturday . it was a v6 4 spd. and it was an 8inch but not posi. roy

Most likely unless someone changed it. Do like Fordstuff said and see if it has a removeable carrier.
any body have any pics of the rear ends, the 6 and the 8 so I know what I am looking at.
Thanks, Tink
Look at the rearend from behind the car. If you see bolts holding the cover on the center of the rearend it is a 6-3/4".
It is similar to the image that has the #4 in it. I couldn't find a 6-3/4". It is a 7.5", but the bolts on the rear are very similar in concept.
If the center is smooth (no bolts) it is an 8". This is the image that says "the Hump").
Very simple and straightforward.
excellent pics..... roy
Awsome, thanks Wittsend, Tigger and Fordstuff.
I've seen a Mustang II in a boneyard with a factory 6-3/4. So they're out there.
