New ride arrives....(pics)
My favorite all around car I have ever owned was my 73 Lime Green Metallic Pinto Squire 2 door station wagon, 4 speed, factory air, AM/FM, no roof rack, factory order. It did wonderful service for our family, covering 160,000 miles before it was sold for a larger car for a growing family. Replaced the clutch, valve job at 120,000, timing belt, brakes, belts, hose and tires, but that was it. Overhead cam , disk brakes up front, rack and pinion steering, a fun car to drive, and not too anemic for an economy with its nicely geared 4 speed.
I do miss that little car. Went to Goodguys and took a real close look at the many neat cars for sale, as I did have the desire to add something to my collection. With a Ferrari 308 GTS, Model A Roadster Pickup, 61 Bonneville Bubbletop, 63 Vette Roadster, 84 Fiero, and a drive quality 74 Pinto Squire, what would I get?
The answer came to me last week, an eBay lisitng and just a few miles south. I just had to have this mint original 77 Pinto Squire Station Wagon, 4 speed, California car all its existence, and only 26,000 miles.
My wife asked if I was going to "sell" my 74 Pinto wagon. She normally does not use 4 letter words and when I'm done posting here I'm going to Google that word, as it has no meaning to me.
This little Pinto is a true survivor, a real time capsule.

Congratulations! Enjoy!

Awesome! Glad to see someone on the site picked her up! Just so you know, I downloaded all of those photos on the ebay auction so I could have them archived. Always cool to look back on a mint condition car!
OMG!!! That is so cool! I was hoping one of our "Family Of Fine Pintos" was gonna get her! Congratulations! ;D ;D ;D
I have at least five copies of the Hemmings magazine that it was in because people kept bringing them to me. I hope to see it at PA next year. I promise I will wear a bib when I am looking at it :D
Darn you mcjbob!!!!!
I was the one bidding against you on EBAY. I had actually bid a much higher price than you paid, but a technical glitch caused my bid to be submitted about 2 seconds after the bidding ended. ARRRGGGHHH!!!!
Seriously, this is a fantastic car. Congrats! If you ever want to sell it, I'm still here.
Since my devastating loss, I did snag a 1976 Pinto Runabout of my own. She came from the original owner, a "loaded" V6, with only 40K original miles (owner died 25 years ago, and it has been in storage ever since). She looks new throughout, with only a few minor imperfections, which I'm fixing. Not too shabby, but she's no Country Squire. On the other hand, I somehow got the car (local to me) in the middle of the night on EBAY for only $2,100. I'm not sure how that happened, but it left a lot of money for restoration (even though there's not much to do).
Anway, enjoy your Squire, and keep me in mind if you sell! Maybe I'll see you at a car show?
