Title: Think this Pinto is worth the money?
Post by: russosborne on April 15, 2010, 08:19:08 PM
http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/1685688616.html (http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/1685688616.html)

Not that I am looking to buy another, honestly I would prefer getting a Mustang project. But I do want to get a car as a project, and somehow I seem destined towards Pintos.
Granted, there isn't a lot of info in the ad, and I think the guy may be a flake(hope he isn't on here) because he had the very same car for sale for $500 last month, and now it is up to $650.

What I would think about doing, if I got it, (big if) would be to get it driveable and reliable and then use my 79 for the project, seeing as how they are better for V8 swaps, etc. But I don't know for sure. I do think the older ones are better looking.

I am probably not going to be able to buy it, so if someone else here has the cash go for it. Just remember where you heard about it. :-)

Thanks,
Russ

Maybe that was it. :-)
Or if it doesn't sell now he will go up to $800?

45,000 miles on a dirt track?

Looking at the interior, I would say yes, it's a good price. What bothers me is the fact that the guy offered it $150 less a few weeks ago, and is threatening to have it junked before he'll take less for it. Something stinks, and it's not the gear oil.  :reek:  Still, it's a good price if it's running. I don't know how involved a spring is so maybe I'm blowing rainbows somewheres... ::)

The car may be okay but the seller sounds like a real jerk.  In the first place, I find it hard to believe that car has only 45000 miles!  I know it's 36 years old, but even so... that car looks like it's seen way more miles than that!  I REALLY dislike people who threaten to crush a car if they don't get their price... the only people they are fooling are themselves!

I love that avocado interior... nobody said the guy had a brain! lol. Dwayne, I agree. I hate that too. Maybe a grasshopper went in his ear and rattled the pea that is his brain... or maybe the grasshopper went and ate the pea!

I didn't pay any real attention to the miles, I just assume that it is really at least 100K + that amount, if not more.
I also don't know if he means leaf spring or front coil. If it is the leaf spring, it could be pushing up through the floor.
No tax refund for another month for us according to the IRS website, so I for sure won't be buying it.  :(
